Summer Program

Is your child passionate about writing and storytelling? Give them a unique summer experience with the L. B. Author Apprentice (LBAA) Internship Program! Our founder provides a hands-on look into the world of publishing. Interns gain knowledge about the culture and day-to-day operations of being an author! Students ages 10-17 are encouraged to apply. The LBAA Internship Program is a paid opportunity. Students will receive a stipend.

This summer program is

100% Virtual!

The L. B. Author Apprentice Summer Internship is a six-week virtual program

designed to provide students in grades 5-12 with comprehensive insights into the publishing industry.

Throughout the program, students attend weekly sessions, submit assignments,

and culminate their experience with a final presentation. 

To enrich the experience for our interns, we arrange guest speaker sessions every week,

featuring accomplished authors, editors, and illustrators.

LBAA Summer Internship FAQ's

Age Requirements

All applicants must be 10 years of age by June 1, 2024. Applicants must not exceed 17 years of age during the summer program which concludes August 5, 2024

Access to

Technology

Access to a personal computer is required to qualify for the LBAA Summer Internship. The internship is completely virtual, and interns must attend Zoom meetings, send emails, and complete projects.

Orientation

Parent or guardian must attend the orientation with intern via Zoom.

Child Privacy

Weekly meetings are required. A parent/guardian must attend each meeting with interns under the age of 15. Parents are not required to be on camera, but nearby, hearing the sessions. All correspondences are sent to the parent or guardian's email address. Interns will interact with social media. Faces will not be shown without parental consent.

Work Hours 

Six to ten hours per week, depending on the assignment. The times of day are up to you. We find it best to create a schedule you follow each day.

Selection Process

After we receive an application, we will review it and may contact chosen candidates for an interview. We hope to give final decisions a week after submissions close.
