Celebrating Excellence: IAA Executive Director Named Pinellas County Schools 2026 Teacher of the Year

There are moments when recognition feels bigger than an award—when it reflects years of quiet dedication, unseen labor, and a deep commitment to students that changes lives. This is one of those moments.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Denise White, Executive Director of IAA, who has been named Pinellas County Schools 2026 Teacher of the Year.

On the evening of our recent board meeting, Denise was unable to be with us because she was attending the Teacher of the Year event. What we didn’t yet know was that she would be coming home with one of the highest honors an educator can receive.

Those who know Denise know this truth: teaching is not something she does—it’s who she is.

Her classroom has always been more than a place to learn standards or pass exams. It’s been a place where students are seen, challenged, encouraged, and believed in. Denise has a rare ability to meet students exactly where they are while still calling them higher. That balance—of compassion and excellence—is what makes her exceptional.

As Executive Director of IAA, Denise brings that same heart and intentionality into everything she leads. She understands that education doesn’t stop at the school doors. It continues in after-school programs, creative spaces, writing workshops, and moments when young people are given the tools—and the confidence—to use their voices.

This award affirms what we see every day: Denise leads with integrity, vision, and an unwavering belief in the power of students when they are supported and challenged.

Being named Teacher of the Year is not just a personal achievement—it’s a recognition of impact. It represents countless students reached, moments that mattered, and a career devoted to doing the work when no one was watching.
